Q. How far are you situated from Lake Louise?
A. Approximately 1km drive or 15 minutes walking.
Q. How far are you from the Calgary International Airport?
A. We are approximately a 2 ½ hour drive from the airport.
Q. Where are you situated in Lake Louise and how far are you from the Village of
Lake Louise?
A. We are 3 km from the Village, which is approximately a 45 minute walk.
Paradise Lodge & Bungalows is located on the right hand side of Lake Louise
Drive just passed the Moraine Lake turnoff.
Q. Do you have a restaurant on site?
A. No we don’t, however we do have many recommendations and all the menus for
the restaurants in the area.
Q. Are there many hiking trails around Lake Louise?
A. Most of the trail heads start at Lake Louise or Moraine Lake, ranging from
1hr flat trails to all day hikes.
Q. If we had an extra person, which room type would you recommend?
A. We cannot put any more than 4 people in a cabin, however we can fit up to 5
persons into one of our suite provided the fifth person is a child. We also can
provide a mattress on the floor or a travel play pen at a rate of $10.00 + TX
CDN per night. The mattresses are designed for children and are not suitable for
an adult.
Q. How will the weather be?
A. Mountain weather is unpredictable and can change rapidly. It’s possible to
get rain, snow, wind and sunshine on the same day. Since mountain ranges create
their own local climates, conditions can vary from one location to the next.
Generally, the mountain air is cool and dry. Days are usually warm June through
September, but it can get cool at night. April and October through to early
November see weather ranging from summer to winter conditions. Winter
temperatures dip below freezing, with frequent snowfalls. Temperatures can be as
high as 30C/86F in the summer to as low as –30C/22F in the winter.
Q. What is a "park pass"?
A "park pass" is required by all people using the Banff National Park; revenues
from park passes fund Banff National Park's daily operations. Passes can be
purchased at the gate when entering the national park or at the Tourism Bureau
located in downtown Banff or Lake Louise. Please contact: Parks Canada at
403-762-1550 for National Park passes information, camping, hiking, x-country
skiing, wildlife information.
Q. Can I expect to see any wildlife on my trip?
A. Various types of wildlife are often observed. Sittings range from different
bird species to the most frequently encountered mammal: the elk. Bears, mountain
lions and mountain goats are very elusive and are rarely observed.
Keep in mind that the wildlife you may encounter is just that — wild! Please
ensure that you respect their spaces and habitats while in the park. That
perfect picture can sometimes lead to a compromising situation for both the
animal and the photographer!
Q. Are there any hot springs in the area?
A. Radium Hot Springs: 1 1/4 hours drive or
Canyon Creek Hot Springs: 1 1/2 hour drive
Banff Hot Springs: 45 minute drive
Q. What type of clothing do I need to bring?
A. Outdoors - Weather changes in the mountains can be abrupt. Doing an outdoor
activity, always have enough warm clothes and raingear with you.
Hiking - wear sturdy shoes for good foothold.
Indoors - Casual wear is acceptable most of the time.
Q. What sales tax will I encounter?
A. Goods and Service Tax (GST) of 5% is a federal sales tax charged on most
goods or services sold or provided.
Hotel Room Tax (HRT): instead of the PST, a room tax of 4% is applied. There is
also a requirement to apply a 2% Tourism Tax.
Q. Can we request a specific unit # or location?
A. We will guarantee the type of unit that you have booked but we do not
guarantee a specific unit number or location due to unforeseen circumstances
that may arise.
Q. Are there linens and pots and pans provided in the units with kitchens?
A. All our suites and cabins that have full kitchens also come fully equipped
with cutlery, dishes and pots and pans.
Q. Do the cabins have TV’s in them?
A. all of our suites and cabins have TV’s in them. We do not have phones in any
of our units but do have 2 payphones on our property.
Q. Do you have wireless internet?
A. If you have your own laptop we do have a code that we can provide you with.
There is a daily charge for the access code. Please keep in mind that we are a
remote location and sometimes the connection is not very strong or available.
Q. Is there a grocery store in Lake Louise?
A. There is a small market in the Samson Mall in Lake Louise. There are also 2
large grocery stores in Banff which is a 45 minute drive from Lake Louise.
Q. How far is Jasper?
A. Jasper is a lovely 2 ½ hours straight drive approximately 250 miles. However
there is a lot to see and do on the highway and it can take all day.
